These wafers are made for slow grazers — bristlenose and other Ancistrus (L144, L181, L183), corydoras, shrimp, and snails that like to pick at food through the day rather than eat it all at once. They soften gradually on the bottom, so fish can browse them much like they graze biofilm in the wild.
The recipe pairs spirulina and plant ingredients with real anchovy and shrimp meal, giving herbivorous and omnivorous bottom feeders both the plant matter and the animal protein they need in one daily food. At 36% protein it's balanced as an everyday staple — and bristlenose in particular take to it readily.
How to feed
Feed 1–2 times daily in small portions your fish can finish within about 15 minutes. As with all rich foods, avoid overfeeding and manage water quality.
The wafers can be:
- Dropped in whole so they sink to the bottom where plecos, corys, shrimp, and snails can graze them slowly.
- Broken into smaller pieces if you want to spread the food across different areas of the tank.
Always remove anything uneaten after feeding to help keep water quality stable.
