Pleco Cave Cone

A breeding cave for the big ones. The Cone is our widest, largest tube — a roomier bore for broad-bodied and fully mature plecos that simply don't fit, or won't settle, in a standard cave. Give a large fish a shelter sized to its body and it's far more likely to claim it, hold it, and spawn in it.

Inside, the job is the same as any good breeding tube: the male backs in, blocks the entrance, and guards the eggs with a steady flow of water passing over them — just on a scale that suits a large adult.

Which fish it's for

  • Large, mature Hypancistrus and broad-bodied plecos

  • Bigger Pseudacanthicus (cactus plecos) and similar species

  • Full-grown bristlenose and other plecos that have outgrown a standard tube

How to use

Rinse before use. Place on the substrate, slightly buried if needed for stability, in a low-flow, shaded area.

Details

  • Dimensions: 17.8 Ă— 10 Ă— 7.5 cm (7.0 Ă— 3.97 Ă— 2.97 in)

  • Material: high-temperature fired clay

  • Available in color options

Safety

  • Inert, non-toxic ceramic. Safe for freshwater aquariums, including fish, shrimp, and other invertebrates.

  • Tested daily on the Plecoceramics farm.
